When he saw that one out of the three black boys tries to force George into using soap and towel, McMurphy stood up for him and fought with the black boy. Chief Broomden also help fought back and therefore they were brought up to Disturbed. This made the other patients begin to believe and trust in him again but he himself was being punish. Chief Broomden was release from Disturbed before McMurphy because he obey while McMurphy continue to go against the Big Nurse. Up there, he was being treated with electronic device but he was still himself. In fact, he got much bigger once he was release from there.
The patients in the nuthouse try to plan his escape but McMurphy disagree thinking of how it would be the same day where Candy was going to sneak in and meet up with Billy. He didn't want to disappoint Billy at all so they set the plan aside. That night, he went through the filing cabinets, the drugs, and pretty much explore the hospital such as the Big Nurse office. When the next day came, instead of him escaping, Mr. Turkle escape with Sandy while he stayed back and took the blame for Billy's act of committing suicide and the act of holding a party inside the hospital.
He was then taken in for treatment. He didn't just sit back and allow the Big Nurse to do whatever they want. He fought and fought with the staff that even the Big Nurse was injured. Unfortunately, he still lost and was force to receive an operation which change him. Most of the people who were left from the fishing trip had left the hospital. Some decided that it was time to leave while others were being move to other mental hospitals. Even the doctor resign. There were only three left and when Chief Broomden find that he couldn't support McMurphy anymore in any ways, he decided to escape. He left the hospital successfully while McMurphy stayed in the nuthouse helplessly.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Part 3
With McMurphy attitude, he's going to go farther and farther with breaking the Big Nurse hospital rules. Right after he got back to himself, McMurphy broke the Big Nurse personal window, took part in every meeting, and continue to make as much jokes as he possibly could to make the patients that were there to have a big laugh.
McMurphy decided to group up the guys and make a basketball team. He went to the doctor for the permission to allow him to bring a basketball back from the gym to practice. The Big Nurse really object it believing that they will kick it everywhere such as the day room but the doctor supported it. Of course McMurphy got all the guys to play and practice and the most important, improved.
He decided to really start trouble with the Big Nurse so he break the Big Nurse window and flirt with the other young nurses. These action lead the others to follow so harding begin to flirt with the nurses and Scanlon to break the Big Nurse window with a basketball. Knowing that that was the end of the basketball season, McMurphy came right up with another plan.
McMurphy came up with an idea going out fishing. He said that his two aunts which aren't really his aunts was going to pick them up and be their chaperone. The Doctor gave him the permission but the Big Nurse to continue to get in his way by posting stories about how dangerous it is.
The trip wasn't smooth at all. One of the girls couldn't show up so he had to persuade the doctor to be the other driver. When they got to the gas station, the people there causes McMurphy group to feel uncomfortable. When they try to get the boat, there were also some problems. Since McMurphy was smooth and slick enough, they all got to where they wanted to.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest II
McMurphy comes from the farm. He explain that he didn't want to live a life in the farm working hard each and everyday so he decided to find a way to get himself send into this place. He had sex with with a fifteen years old girl and claim that she was seventeen. The judge thought that he had some sort of mental problems therefore send him to this hospital.
McMurphy is a gambler. He announce in the hospital to other patients that he isn't crazy; different from the rest of them. He continues to gamble inside the hospital for cigarettes and finally started making bets saying that he could get the Big Nurse upset.
With McMurphy around, the Big Nurse rules was broken. The machines and punishment all stopped. Other patients there were entertain by his actions and his attitude towards the black boys and the big nurse. Some patients started to begin to rebelled against the Big Nurse.
At first, McMurphy had fun teasing and getting on the Big Nurse nerve. He enjoyed being fed with breakfast that taste much better than the ones he had on the farm and just hanging around doing nothing. After it's nearly a year, he begin to miss the world outside. He wanted to leave the hospital so he decided to behave himself allowing the Big Nurse to be in charge without any interruption again. When the Big Nurse announce that each person may only have on pack of cigarette a day, Cheswick went against it right away believing that McMurphy is there to back him up not knowing that McMurphy was behaving himself so that he could get dismiss from the hospital.
McMurphy is a very intelligent man. He could get in the Big Nurse nerves and get the black boys in trouble without getting himself in trouble. He was the first one to discovered that Chief Broomden can hear even though he's the newest patient at the hospital. McMurphy really knows how to work his way up to what he wants without placing himself in jeopardy.

Writing in Response to Kesey (Some suggestions)
The narrator of this story is Chief Broomden. He's being known as Chief Broomden because his job is to sweep up the place. He's half Indian and half American. Chief Broom is one of the Chronics. He's been there since the World War II. Everyone believes that he is mute and death.
Since everyone comes to a conclusion that he's death and mute, no one ever really pays him any attention. It is a benefit for Chief Broomden to be our narrator because he gets to listen to a lots of other people's conversation. He than started to share all the benefits that he has gathered about other patient there. Also, since he's the patient who stays there the longest, he can provide us with information that he have witness or experience himself.
Broomden describe how there are machines that shaves him everyday, the activities that he and other Chronics and Acutes does everyday at what time. He also describes what he saw happens to Harding, Ruckly, and other Chronics and Acutes that was being force by the big nurse and the three black boys to get an operation. One person operation was very successful according to the big nurse for they really listens to her. There are others who the three black boys and big nurse consider as their failure such as Ruckly. Instead of healing him, him end up being blind. He hated his wife for sending him into such a place.
The disadvantage for having Broomden as a narrator is that he cant really tell much about his life. Also, u can't tell how everyone would have interact with him if he were to commute and his social life. Will he be able to just be a by stander at some of these incident or will he be one of those that the big nurse will make an experience with.
An additional blog in response to the play
From the way they act really surprise me. It was very different from the way I pictured. Hamlet was very energetic. He was swing on bars (very amazing and surprising), and very smiley. The Hamlet that I thought about should be very depress. The similarities between the actor and the one from what I think is that both of them are very good at making fun and insulting others.
Queen Gertrude in the play seems like a slut. The way how she unbutton her clothes to persuade King Claudius to end his conversation with Polonius and go to bed with her. My Gertrude was an upright queen. She shows royalty in her. She makes me feel as though she married King Claudius so that she could protect her son by staying as a queen. The only similarity is that Gertrude is afraid of her son craziness but still really loves him.
To me Ophelia has to be a slower talker. She shows all her royalty to her father without any attitude towards anyone especially her father. In the play, she talks really fast. She shows an attitude towards her father even though she agreed to stay away from Hamlet. When I was reading, I felt as though her father has persuade her that Hamlet wasn't a good guy for her but while watching the play, it felt as though she was being force to leave Hamlet more than to be persuaded to leave him.
Horatio is that only character that seem to stay the same. He doesn't talk much but he surely was a good friend to Hamlet. He was being pretty fair and quiet. He is the smartest character throughout the whole play.He stays out of the whole situation and just look in as a bystander most of the time unless Hamlet ask him to get involve.

Hamlet Act III, IV, V
Even to the very end of the play, I still find that Hamlet didn’t deserve to die. He of course would have to pay a price for killing Polonius but he surely didn’t deserve to get killed. All Hamlet want was to be a good son and revenge for his father as he was being told by his father’s soul to do. This just show how much he loves his father and how much respect he have for him. He never meant to kill any of these people but Claudius. If it wasn’t for Claudius, King Hamlet wouldn’t have killed. Polonius wouldn’t have work for him therefore Hamlet wouldn’t have stabbed him by accident. If Ophelia didn’t listen and obey her dad in every way, then she wouldn’t have lost Hamlet’s love and her father. If Polonius wasn’t killed, then Laertes wouldn’t have been killed in the dual. Without the dual, King Claudius wouldn’t have attempt to put poison into Hamlet’s cup of wine which Gertrude wouldn’t have died.

Vergil in Hamlet; Act II Scene ii
Polonius was inform by his daughter Ophelia of Hamlet madness. She describe how Hamlet enter her room and unlike usual, he wasn’t acting like himself. The way he was dress and the way how he treat her made her scared. She sad that he no longer look or act like a gentlemen. Polonius right afterwards came to a conclusion that Hamlet is suffereing from love sickness. He start to blame himself for thinking that Hamlet wasn’t really in love with his daughter. He kind of regret for telling his daughter to keep away from Hamlet. Polonius was just being a protectful father. At the same time, he likes to get into others business again. He mention that he wish he could have witness it himself.
When Polonius told King Claudius and Queen Gertrude about Hamlet action, the queen called for his close friends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to spy on him and report his condition back to her. The queen seems to care because she’s his mom but does Claudius really care because he is Hamlet’s uncle or is it true that he’s worried about being remove from his current position?
Hamlet has decided test whether what the ghost said was true or was it all a lie. He has hired a group of actors to come and perform the death of his father. He wanted to see the reaction of his uncle once he sees the play. I am curious whether the play was a good idea or not. If claudius really was ther person who killed King Hamlet, then he definitely would find out that Hamlet is not crazy. In fact, he would know that Hamlet has begin to suspect or is positive that King Hamlet was murdered by him. Wouldn’t this place Hamlet in a dangerous position since his stepfather/uncle definitely would try to kill him so that Claudius could keep his position and his life?

Hamlet Act I
There’s also the ghost who Hamlet, Horatio, Bernardo, and Marcellus all believe that it is the ghost of the former King of Denmark, King Hamlet. Is it really the ghost of King Hamlet or is it the former king of Norway, King Fortinbras? If it was really King Hamlet, why didn’t he appear to his wife and the others to tell them how he was murdered? Why did he only appear to his son Hamlet? Going against the current king and seeking for revenge is a very dangerous action. Would the king really allow such an action to be done by his son and only his son?
In my point- of- view, I think that it is the ghost of King Fortinbras. If he could cause a corruption in the kingdom of Denmark, it would give his nephew, the current king of Norway, a higher chance in defeating and conquering Denmark. Imagining the current king of Denmark who is Hamlet’s uncle being attack by both his nephew Hamlet, and the country’s enemy young King Fortinbras, king of Denmark will not be able to defend his life nor his country. Once the king dies, Hamlet as an inexperience king will have to settle down right away and try to defend Denmark. This would give an advantage to King of Norway, King Fortinbras because he has more experience then Hamlet.
There must be a story as to why the former queen of Denmark Gertrude, would immediately make such a decision to marry her brother-in-law Cladius. Also, who came up with this idea? Was it Claudia or was it Gertrude? What persuade the other person to agree to such an idea. Gertrude
Here are some of the ideas that I came up with:
- Claudius might have liked Gertrude back when King Hamlet was still alive.
- He might have needed a woman who knows what she’s doing to help him look after the kingdom.
- Gertrude might have liked Claudius too.
- Gertrude might just want to protect her son and make sure that her son will become the next king.
Also, since Hamlet is the crowned princess, shouldn’t he become king when his father pass away? Why King Hamlet’s brother Claudius did became King? Then what’s the point of having a crowned prince?

Coleridge and Shelley - Imagination and Narrative Voice
The poem "Ozymandias" written by Percy Bysshe Shelley contains two speakers. The two speakers are the traveler and Ozymandias. The traveler seem to introduce the remainings of Ozymandias, a statue. The other speaker is Ozymandias through the words that appears on the pedestral. “My name is Ozymandias, king of kings, Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!” This quote is to show that when Ozymandias was alive, he might be a very powerful king where other kings might even have to obey him.

"The Chimney Sweeper"
The editors have included the Parliament transcript as a primary source document. It didn't really effect the way how I read Blakes writing. It just help to support the way how Blakes write. At least there is some type of back up to his text.

Jonathan Swift Teacher Prep Work
Questions:
1. Is he really a giant or is he the normal size one?
2. How did he end up in this village?
3. How does the rule of breaking the eggs relates to the story?
4. Is this store focusing on the two empire "Tramecksan" and "Slamecksan"?
"But his present Majesty’s grandfather, while he was a boy, going to eat an egg, and breaking it according to the ancient practice, happened to cut one of his fingers. Whereupon the Emperor his father published an edict, commanding all his subjects, upon great penalties, to break the smaller end of their eggs. The people so highly resented this law, that our histories tell us there have been six rebellions raised on that account; wherein one Emperor lost his life, and another his crown." pg.658
I chose this excerpt to explain why the breaking of the eggs led to the rebel. This passage shows that the people can't stand the lame rules that was set up by the king. This lead to the downfall of the kings.
The prediction that I made was that the kings were being nice to him so that he would work for them. They find that the giant can protect them. In return, the giant decide to not interfere with the party. He only decide to protect the Emperor's people and states from all invaders with his life.

Working in these small teachers group help me see the things that I miss when I was reading it. In the group, classmates point out some of the things that I didn't realize. There were also questions that never came to me until one of the classmates brought it up. What makes it hard was that each of us have our own perspective therefore it's difficult.
c)
Yes I would try to approach it differently. I want to gather everyone's thought and put it together to make up new questions that everyone agree on. Then hopefully we will be able to develop a good method in teaching the class.

Nineteen Eighty-Four Final Writing Assignment
O’Brien tries to explain to Winston about the party main goal. Winston went against it and says that no matter what the party does, they will never be able to change the thinking and the beliefs of another person. No matter what they do, they will never be able to erase the memories of the past that each person has contained within them. O’Brien told Winston that majority beats minority. He’s trying to explain to Winston that as long as there are more people who says and agree on a thing, that thing will automatically become true. For example, two plus two equal four but if there’s enough people who say that two plus two equal five, then two plus two will no longer equal to four. The fact will disappear forever and the false information would soon become a fact.
Winston did not believe it and so he continued to go against it. “O’Brien help up his left hand, its back toward Winston, with the thumb hidden and the four fingers extended. How many fingers am I holding up, Winston? Four. And if the Party says that it is not four but five-then how many? Four.”(pg.206) At first, no matter how many needle there was, it didn’t make Winston give up but then he finally give up because he couldn’t stand the pain. Then he couldn’t stand how he looks from after all the torture. He pretty much gave in but there was one thing that he wouldn’t give in. It was his feelings for Julia. He still loves her and believes that he has never betrayed her. Not until he was taken to room 101 where he has to face one of his biggest fear, rats. Inside that room, he was tied down in a chair where he couldn’t even move his head. O’Brien has prepared a cage filled with hungry rats and a mask for Winston to put on. At that rate, he was so scared that he told O’Brien to use this punishment with someone else. He was scared that he told O’Brien to do it to Julia instead of him.
After all the torture he had face in the Ministry of Love, Winston have to admit that O’Brien was right. He begin to believe that no matter what the Party says, it will always become true whether the incident truly did happen or not. He wrote, “FREEDOM IS SLAVERY. TWO AND TWO MAKE FIVE. GOD IS POWER.” Later when he saw, Julia, he no longer love her like he had once use to. At that point he understand exactly why the men before desire for death. By the end of the whole situation, Winston was now positive that the Party has the power over all.

Writing in response to Orwell
February 22, 2009
Dear Mr. Smith,
There are things that I can deeply relate to you. I understand that there are lots of things that we can’t judge by their appearances. For example, a jelly fish may look pretty and nice by its appearance, but once you try to touch it, it will sting you to death. The same as human, no one in this world including you and me can ever judge a person by his or her appearance. I understand that Mr. O’Brien urbane manner and his prize-fighter’s physique really persuade you. Then there was your own point of view about his secretly held belief and his political orthodoxy which really draws you to the conclusion that he was definitely not a spy. You’re not the only one out there, even a General like Othello can make a mistake by judging Iago through his looks, his actions and his words. Don’t let this bring you down; instead, think of this as a lesson. Learn from your mistake and prevent it from ever happening again.
Sincerely,
Lisa.
